L’eau D’issey (Issey Miyake) is a crisp woody aquatic scent developed in 1994 by nose Jacques Cavallier. It is still popular, especially as a summer fragrance. It begins with yuzu, mandarin orange, lemon verbena, bergamot, sage, tarragon, cypress, and coriander top notes. The heart is rich and spicy, with nutmeg, saffron, Ceylon cinnamon, blue lotus, mignonette, and geranium in the middle notes. Tobacco, cedar, musk, Tahitian vetiver, sandalwood, and amber provide an extremely woody dry down to the fragrance’s base.
