L’eau D’issey (Issey Miyake) is a crisp woody aquatic smell created in 1994 for Issey Miyake by nose Jacques Cavallier. It remains popular, particularly in the summer. The top notes include yuzu, mandarin orange, lemon verbena, bergamot, sage, tarragon, calone, cypress, and coriander. The heart is rich and spicy, with middle notes of nutmeg, saffron, Ceylon cinnamon, blue lotus, mignonette, and geranium. Tobacco, cedar, musk, Tahitian vetiver, sandalwood, and amber make up the fragrance’s base notes, which are highly woody. This is a long-lasting perfume with a powerful sillage. Based in Japan, Issey Miyake is a fashion designer with French training. After working for Guy Laroche and Givenchy in Paris and Geoffrey Beene in New York City, Miyake returned to Tokyo to found his own design studio and fashion house. He is known for his interesting work with textiles and practical garment designs.
